An Introduction

A child grows in an environment looking and learning at his parents and other family members. He also watches how his teachers and mentors teach the class. He learns from the elders playing sports with him. We all do the same and our psychological development takes place. Our thought process develops and we then focus on a personality that admires us the most. This personality is called a role model. We get immense inspiration from the role model we choose. Our personalities develop following the traits we admire in a person. This person can be your parent, your family member, or a celebrity.

Role Model Essay

My role model is Charlie Chaplin. He is one of the greatest comedians and film producers of all time. Charles Spencer Chaplin, a brilliant child, who was born in the poor part of London on 16 th April 1889. His mother was suffering from a psychological disorder. His father died due to alcoholism. He was left in an abyss where his caretakers were not able to pay the rent as well. They changed rooms and were not able to eat every day. He developed a world of his own when his mother suffered from madness spells.

His mother supported his family by sewing clothes. Eventually, she could not afford to rent a sewing machine. His early days were spent with homeless children when his mother was treated in a hospital. Even if he belonged to a tragic background and lived a sad childhood, he never failed to make everyone laugh with his performance. He developed as an excellent actor, director, producer, and almost all kinds of skills needed to produce a silent movie. His best creations that still make people laugh and cry at the same time are City Lights, Modern Times, The Kid, A woman of Paris, The Gold Rush, etc.

He became a very famous actor admired by all. He directed, acted, edited, and produced most of the films. We can say he was a perfectionist in every sense. He even took a dig at Adolf Hitler, the dictator of Germany, and mocked him in his film ‘The Great Dictator’ released in 1940. He was so brave that no one was ready to fund, act, or release this movie that mocked the superpower. He did it taking it as a challenge and mocked the Fuhrer with his toothbrush moustache.

This is why I admire Charlie Chaplin. Even though he had a very sad childhood, he still managed to find food in his life. He was strong enough to stand tall and gave the world’s best comedic performance of all time. He also got the longest standing ovation in the Oscars. Everyone clapped and cheered when he received it for 11 minutes straight. Despite being clad with poverty and extreme hardship, he never went into the abyss of sadness. He recognized his talent and wanted to remain in the virtual happy world of comedy.

He is my favourite personality in the world due to his versatility and multiple talents. He said ‘A day without laughter is a day wasted’. He always wanted to see everyone smiling and laughing. He wanted to be the reason for everyone’s laughter and happiness. He also said ‘I always walk in the rain so that no one can see my crying.’ It is easy to imagine the pain behind this line but his act never revealed his sad life at all.

I came to know about his childhood and real-life stories when I read his autobiography. He represents every common man we know. He is our refined image. For him, life was a long story with a lot of comedy. His perspective of seeing life is what I admire. Charlie Chaplin had a life full of struggle and sufferings, still, he was able to bring smiles on millions of faces throughout his life. Everyone loved his work and at one phase of his life, he was at the peak of his life, where he signed many shows and films.

Charlie’s Booming Phase

He signed contracts with the mutual film corporation for a really huge sum to make 12 two-reel comedies. These were “The Floorwalker”, “The Fireman”, “The Vagabond”, “One A.M.” (a production in which he was the only character for the entire two reels with the exception of the inclusion of a cab driver in the opening scene), and many more such works.

The Phase of Independence

As we are already aware of his association with Mutual, the same association contract expired in 1917 when Charlie decided to establish himself as an independent producer for fulfilling his desire for expansion and leisure. He started working on planning for his own studio, which was situated in the residential section of Hollywood at La Brea Avenue. Charlie entered into a new agreement with the First National Exhibitor’s Circuit in 1918. His successive commercial venture was the production of the comedy dealing with the war. Shoulder Arms was released in the year 1918 at a most opportune time which led to the high popularity of Chaplin at the box office.

Charlie has created a deep impact on many lives and he has also acted as an inspiration to many of us. In 1966, he produced his last picture, “A Count from Hong Kong” for Universal Pictures, his only film that was in colour, starring Sophia Loren and Marlon Brando. Chaplin’s son Sydney has a major role in the films and three of Chaplin’s daughters have few parts in it.

The Impact He Made on the World and His Contribution to Arts and Society

Charlie Chaplin was a man who formed millions of smiles in the early 1900s. Despite the fact that his movies were silent films and also, in black and white, he put immense colour into everyone’s life. He managed to work his magic through actions and free minds as well as speak the minds of ordinary people, whether it is about the horrors of life as a soldier in the two World Wars or the dehumanization of work or about the wonderful sensations of love in “City of Lights”. He was not scared or bogged down to clearly show what he believed in.

His amazing sense of narration and subordinating the story with mere actions make him a great master of pictures. Charlie Chaplin can be described as a man who, despite great misfortunes, managed to transform the “nightmarish” situations that he experienced in silent comedy. He was a comedic icon among other actors and yet, he was the best. Coming from a poor background, he finally became a person whom everyone knows and loves. Such an impression he has made across the world that Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom knighted him as Sir Charlie Chaplin in 1975.

He expired at the age of eighty eight on 25th December 1977. He has left a deep impression on many lives and has set an example for many of us.

January 16, 2021 by Sandeep

Essay on Role Model: An influential or motivational person who is able to inspire others around him due to their personality is called a role model. They are acknowledged in society and looked upon as role models because of their specialized qualities. They are noticed among the crowd and stand out for their leadership qualities, determination, dedication and commitment towards their work. Their outstanding attributes are reflected in their ideologies, and hence they gather many followers to walk in their footsteps.

Essay on Role Model 500 Words in English

Below we have provided My Role Model Essay in English, suitable for class 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10.

A role model is someone we admire, respect and look up to. They become our inspiration, and we emulate and imitate them to lead good behaviour. Role models represent an ideology to which we adhere to. Moreover, they serve as an example of value, attitude and ethics, which provides a framework for a strong personality. They can be parents, teachers, doctors, celebrities, athletes, army etc.

Parents as a Role Model

Being a parent and then a role model is crucial to the children because that defines their relationship with them and moulds the character to a more considerable extent. Parents are children’s first teachers, and they believe every word and action what their parents convey. A kid is vulnerable, tender and easily gullible. They blindly follow without thinking right and wrong, therefore setting a positive example becomes essential for their overall growth and development as their behaviour reflects parents teachings.

It is rightly said that action speaks louder than words . So if the actions of the parents contradict their words, children tend to become confused and resentful, which will further lead to frustrations and depression, ultimately leading to conflicts between the parent and the child.

Teachers as a Role Model

Teachers are the next most important role models because the influence of a good teacher can never be erased. Their teachings carve a sharp image in the minds and hearts of children which they remember for the rest of their life. They not only get physically attached but emotionally too.

A healthy student-teacher relationship blooms only if they relate and value their teachers. Whether it is helping a student to discover a love for a particular subject, building their confidence for public speaking or tapping their creative skills, teachers are the ones who pave the way for us in the world.

Athletes as a Role Model

Sports and athletic games are popular among people and play a significant role in their lives. Since ancient times sports have been the symbol of body fitness and victory. They have become an authoritative source of inspiration and have transformed the lives of many people. They are not only seen on the fields but in commercials, on shows, on television, in newspapers and in cinemas too. Sports players are highly regarded for their excellent teamwork , dedication towards game and contribution to the societal needs.

Their positive approach towards game and empathy creates a great impact on younger children and kids. Children start imitating their tactics and methods in their real life and insist on becoming like them when they grow up. Their actions impress children to such an extent that the players become an integral part of their life.

Role models inspire and instigate people to transform their lives. It is up to us whom we consider our role models and what kind of traits we possess so that even we turn out to be someone’s role model later. Our character plays a significant role in shaping our future; therefore, it is crucial that the tasks that we undertake, we complete with dedication and zeal.

We will be acclaimed and appreciated not for our job but our principles and morals. When we realize our worth, it automatically boosts our confidence and leadership. People admit their mistakes and discover ways to find solutions. Humanity and positive outlook increases because they develop a feeling of empathy.

My role model is my brother; he is an army officer and plays a very important role in protecting our nation. His profession as well as he is an astounding person. There is a lot to learn from him and I really want to be like him.

What I like about My Role Model

My brother is ten years older than me and I always want to become like him. He is disciplined and always keeps his things at the correct place. This helps him to get ready early and also the room looks managed and clean.

He never fails to exercise, which makes him fit and look smart. An army person should be physically strong and fit. His attire attracts the most and gives him a decent look, it also fills the feeling of patriotism and encourages me to serve the nation.

He works hard for not only us but for the entire nation and this part encourages me a lot. We also listen to news about our army and I really feel proud that my brother is its part. I really want to be like him and I try my best to adopt his best habits.

I really feel lucky to have a brother like him and he always inspires me and helps me in my studies when he is at home. Apart from his career, he was a brilliant student and all of his teachers use to admire him a lot.

Essay 2 (300 – 400 Words) – My Mother: My Inspiration and My Role Model

My Role Model is my mother, she is a pilot and she flies high in the sky. Really it is amazing and I always want to be like her. I learn a lot from her and I obey her because I believe that if I will do all that she says, one day I can also be like her. She is a mother, a pilot, a driver, a cook, a good person, all at the same time. I not only want to be a pilot like her but want to copy her overall personality.

What Inspires me the Most?

I like her discipline, although she is a working person, she manages everything in such a great way that even my friend’s parents praise her. I have seen many of my friend’s homes badly managed; but she has given us training in such a way that even my younger brother keeps his belongings properly.

She is also a very good cook and she also tries various recipes and we get the restaurant food at home. She learned cooking after her marriage and today she is one of the best and I bet she can also be a Master Chef. Really, an amazing personality and a lot to learn.

Her sense of fashion, she believes if a person is busy, they should carry a style as per their schedule, like if you have very little time then go for a messy look, with a watch and a loose siphon fabric and a messy hairstyle.

I can’t mention a field where she is imperfect, really not only I, others also learn from her. Actually, she never gets disappointed and never ponders on the past. It is a very good thing and one should definitely imply this in their lives.

Luckily, I got my inspiration at my home. She is my mother, mentor, a very good friend, etc. But all in one she is an amazing personality and a role model for all of us. I wish I could become at least a bit like her. I never get disappointed because she is always with me to take care of me and also encourages me to do something different. All of us learn from different people and she is one of them. Apart from her I also want to appreciate my teacher and friends who also play a very important role in motivating me.

Essay 3 (500 – 600 Words) – Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam: My Role Model

Since my class one, I was a confused boy but when I reached class 5, I met someone who really changed my life. I started thinking and behaving like him. He was Dr. A. P. J. Abul Kalam, who was widely known as a ‘Missile Man’. A packet of inspiration and his hairstyle, dressing sense, carrier, personality, each and every detail was famous. He is like a multivitamin and if once you will come in contact with him, he will definitely inspire you too.

How I Met Him

Actually, it was our annual function in school and every year our school committee calls different people. Once, they got a chance to invite Dr. Kalam and he accepted the request just in once. When he visited us, he spent time with us and also inspired us. He told us about his life journey as a student which was quite interesting as well as inspiring.

After his visit, I really found him very inspiring and he is really a role model of our country. Each and every student wants to become like him. He was a brilliant personality.

What is the most Inspiring Part of His Life?

There are many incidents that inspire us to learn a lot, he was the 11th president of India but during his presidency, his doors were open for everyone. He never discriminated against people as per their profession or money. All were equal for him, as well as he himself never pretended to be superior to others.

Once he was asked to call some of his known people in a function held at Kerala, surprisingly he invited a Cobbler and a small hotel owner. He called them because both of them were very close to his heart. When he was in Kerala, he always used to visit the cobbler and use to have his lunch in the small hotel. I have never seen someone so kind and really it teaches us to be down to earth and show our gratitude to everyone.

Another incident, when he visited IIT-Varanasi in a function as a chief guest. Because he was the chief guest of the function there was a special chair for him, but when he visited, he just denied sitting on the chair. He asked the VC to increase the honour of the chair, as a result, there was another chair arranged which was similar to the other chairs. He never thought himself to be superior and one of the best presidents of India.

Why Dr. Kalam is a Role Model?

It is not only a position or a post that makes a person famous, there are also some extra X factors that make a person decent. He was a person with zero haters. He is also known as Peoples President, because of his deeds.

He was a great scientist who gave India the missile technology. He worked with DRDO and ISRO. Meanwhile, he also used to inspire people and use to visit schools and interact with children. He was from a poor family still he never blamed his financial condition; his father uses to manage things for him.

It will not be wrong if I call him a great motivational speaker, even today when I feel demotivated, I simply start listening to his speeches on YouTube, and they are so good and inspiring that I start feeling energetic.

His kind-heartedness was something that cannot be neglected, really there is a lot to learn from him and it will be not wrong if we denote him as a role model. A person should not only be dedicated towards his career but he should also focus on the overall development.

It is not necessary to learn only from those who are famous but one can also learn from an ant as well as a child. Learning should be a never-ending process. Dr. Kalam was really an amazing personality and each and every day was a new lesson and we should definitely learn from him.

My Role Model Essay: A Few Ways to Elaborate on The Subject

EssayEdge > Blog > My Role Model Essay: A Few Ways to Elaborate on The Subject

You might be surprised at how much your answer to this question can say about you. The role model you choose for your role model essay is not nearly as important as your description of that person and the way you relate this back to yourself. Here are some principles to keep in mind when writing this essay.

  • Choose someone with whom you have had a meaningful relationship. Who is your role model? Don’t pick a more important but distant figure. No one will be impressed if you choose, for example, the CEO of your company but have nothing to say about him beyond listing the credentials in his company profile. Note: There are some questions that allow you to identify a “hero,” and others that ask you to describe an ideal manager. In those cases you should alter your choice accordingly, but the below principles still apply.
  • Express thoughtful admiration.  Glorifying your role model makes you sound naíve. Focus instead on describing the person in an insightful manner and explaining why you value what he or she represents. You might even have reason to differentiate yourself from your role model in specific ways, though the overall purpose should be to describe what you admire and want to emulate.
  • Describe and illustrate specific qualities.  My role model essays should be accurate. Avoid relying on vague language that merely depicts your role model as “brilliant” or “compassionate.” Instead, aim for a more penetrating portrait that captures your role model’s complexities. Moreover, just because you’re not writing about yourself does not mean that you don’t have to back up your claims. Show your role model in detailed action to convey the qualities that he or she embodies.

Brian P.

  • Tell stories.  Using specific anecdotes is the best way to achieve depth in your description. By describing the details of a particular episode, you can convey much more about a person than by listing any number of characteristics.
  • Show the role model’s tangible influence on you.  The best way to demonstrate the importance your role model has played in your life is to recount changes you’ve made based on that person’s influence. Of course, you should not come across as a sycophant or a blind follower. But you can show how your role model provoked ideas that then initiated a course of action.

My Role Model is My Father Essay

The importance of the word ‘Father’ and its general worth towards family is limitless. This word generates honor because of symbol good deeds which every head of the family tries to earn.

My Role Model is My Father Essay

My father is the guiding force and leader of our family, bringing our aspirations into reality. He is not just a figurehead, but a role model who foresees the needs of the time and shapes our family through his unwavering responsibility and dedication. I hold immense respect for him due to his extraordinary achievements.

As my role model, my father accompanies me in all my endeavors, ensuring that I make the right choices. He attentively listens to my problems and imparts valuable lessons to shape my thinking. His primary concern is my future career, and he leverages his maturity, knowledge, and awareness of the modern world to evaluate my interests and decisions, going above and beyond to help me develop and achieve my goals.

Despite his financial limitations, my father fulfills my genuine needs and ensures that I never feel inadequate. He works tirelessly, sweating profusely, to increase his earnings for my sake. He sacrifices his own comfort, willingly eating less, in order to provide for my well-being.

Being educated and possessing a logical vision, my father has evolved into a contemporary and progressive figure. He utilizes his knowledge and embraces modernity to raise me in a manner that equips me to thrive in today’s competitive world. He leaves no gaps in meeting my needs and actively supports my personal growth and career-building process.

As an ideal father, my father spares no effort in fulfilling my necessities. He strives to eliminate any obstacles that could hinder my development and career path, leaving no room for shortcomings.

Daily Test - Attempt Now

What sets my role model father apart is his refusal to impose his own career choices on me. He believes that I should pursue a future based on my own passions, suitability, and capabilities. The tradition of following specific family professions is fading away, as doctors no longer insist on their children becoming doctors, professors do not compel their offspring to pursue academia, and army officers do not force their sons into the military. Similarly, my father desires that I have a better future according to my own choices.

My father is a mature and understanding individual who assists me in making important decisions. Like most devoted fathers, he plays a significant role in my life, supporting my career aspirations and helping me overcome daily challenges. When I face difficulties and seek guidance, I instinctively turn to my father. He selflessly puts aside his own priorities to provide the necessary support. He works tirelessly, making countless sacrifices to help me navigate through my problems.

We celebrate Father’s Day every year on 19 June to strengthen the relationship and remind a father of the sacrifices he endured towards his kids when they were in need. Unfortunately, it has become a mere formality for many, lacking genuine emotional connection and appreciation. In today’s times, children often choose to live separately from their fathers, prioritizing their own families and disregarding their responsibilities towards their aging fathers, who cling to hope for support.

It is very important that our fathers should be given deep respect and utmost respect not only because they are fathers, but for their unparalleled fatherhood and incredible sacrifices towards us. We must recognize the value of their presence and the impact they have on our lives. By cherishing our fathers, upholding our duties, and expressing gratitude for their sacrifices, we can truly acknowledge the exceptional role models they are in our lives.

Target Exam ---

In my life, my father is a hero, guide and someone I can always look up to. He’s the first person I think of when I’m under any difficulties. All of my significant life decisions have been guided by my father. In reality, I’ve never regretted following his advice because it has always shown to be effective. He is a dedicated and industrious individual. My father enjoys watching classic movies whenever he has free time. In fact, there are occasions when we simply argue over who gets to watch television. But, at our core, we enjoy teasing and playing with one another.

Essay On My Role Model

My father despises wasting time. When dad finds either my sister or me doing nothing and just idling our time during the holidays, he assigns us some chore or another. He is also extremely well-organized and keeps everything in order.

My father is my role model because of his commitment to his career. He puts in a lot of effort to provide for our family. He is always there to support me at my school tournaments. He inspires me to do things I may be afraid of, in an attempt to get over my fear and to emerge victorious. On weekends, we spend hours playing games together. He assists me with my homework, teaches me life lessons such as how to treat others with respect, and takes me to swimming and karate classes. He also encourages me to learn new things every day. He excels in playing music. He sings a lovely tune to me every night before I go to sleep. My father is my dearest buddy, and I am so grateful for him; he is God’s greatest gift to me.

He instructs me to behave nicely, talk politely with elders and friends, help those in need, and never say anything negative about anyone because he wants me to grow wise in the future. My father bestowed onto me the greatest gift somebody could bestow upon another person: his faith in me.

He got me my favourite bike because I enjoy riding it, yet he gets irritated when he sees me driving recklessly on highways with risky traffic. My father loves and cares for us like a farmer loves and cares for his crops. My father has made numerous sacrifices to suit the demands of our entire family. He is a busy man, but he manages to squeeze in time for his friends and family.

When he gets home from work, he inquires about my school activities and informs me about his office activities. They say that girls are a father’s favourite. A father’s relationship with his daughter is of a confidante and her hero, while with his son, he is a close buddy and a best friend. He acts like a child, gives advice like a friend, and guards like a bodyguard.

Photography is one of my father’s hobbies; he takes images of birds, plants, and animals. He is a passionate animal lover. We visited a dog park and a cat cafe to spend time with adorable dogs and kitties. He is always happy when he plays with them. On my father’s birthday, my mother and I gifted him a dog, and our family grew by one.

Many things have been taught to me by my father and I strive to be like him. He tells me not to cry when I make errors because mistakes are how we learn in life. I like his ability to look at life in a positive light. He is my hero, and I strive to instill his principles in my friends and the rest of the world. My father has been encouraging and understanding, and I know that his attempts to help me become a better person will never be in vain.

My father’s importance in my life cannot be overstated. My family’s equilibrium and calm are dependent on his presence. A father often obtains the title of the stricter parent, but fathers are always those who love you immensely and are always on the lookout to protect you from anything that could hurt you. I love my father and I hope I can emulate his traits so that I can grow up to be like him.
