Essay on My Favourite Book: Books are friends who never leave your side. I find this saying to be very true as books have always been there for me. I enjoy reading books . They have the power to help us travel through worlds without moving from our places. In addition, books also enhance our imagination. Growing up, my parents and teachers always encouraged me to read. They taught me the importance of reading. Subsequently, I have read several books. However, one boom that will always be my favourite is Harry Potter. Harry Potter Series

Harry Potter was a series of books authored by one of the most eminent writers of our generation, J.K. Rowling. These books showcase the wizarding world and its workings. J.K. Rowling has been so successful at weaving a picture of this world, that it feels real. Although the series contains seven books, I have a particular favourite. My favourite book from the series is The Goblet of fire.

When I started reading the book, it caught my attention instantly. Even though I had read all the previous parts, none of the books caught my attention as this one did. It gave a larger perspective into the wizarding world. One of the things which excite me the most about this book is the introduction of the other wizard schools. The concept of the Tri-wizard tournament is one of the most brilliant pieces I have come across in the Harry Potter series.

In addition, this book also contains some of my favourite characters. The moment I read about Victor Krum’s entry, I was star struck. The aura and personality of that character described by Rowling are simply brilliant. Further, it made me become a greater fan of the series.

What Harry Potter Series Taught Me?

Even though the books are about the world of wizards and magic, the Harry Potter series contains a lot of lessons for young people to learn. Firstly, it teaches us the importance of friendship. I have read many books but never come across a friendship like that of Harry, Hermoine, and Ron. These three musketeers stuck together throughout the books and never gave up. It taught me the value of a good friend.

Further, the series of Harry Potter taught me that no one is perfect. Everyone has good and evil inside them. We are the ones who choose what we wish to be. This helped me in making better choices and becoming a better human being. We see how the most flawed characters like Snape had goodness inside them. Similarly, how the nicest ones like Dumbledore had some bad traits. This changed my perspective towards people and made me more considerate.

Finally, these books gave me hope. They taught me the meaning of hope and how there is light at the end of the tunnel. It gave me the strength to cling on to hope in the most desperate times just like Harry did all his life. These are some of the most essential things I learned from Harry Potter.

In conclusion, while there were many movies made in the books. Nothing beats the essence and originality of the books. The details and inclusiveness of books cannot be replaced by any form of media. Therefore, the Goblet of Fire remains to be my favourite book.

Any good short essay on your favorite book will ask how valuable it is. You need to justify it, and why it was important enough to write about. When writing about a book’s value, you are writing about its topic. What is it teaching people? What merits the focus it has? You need to justify your choice according to these questions.

Remember that there is always value in books. You only need to show people what that book means to you.

When you are preparing to write, look at some essay samples. Model your essay on your favorite book on a previously written sample, and you stand a good chance of writing a good essay.

Samples are good for a few reasons:

  • They show you what is expected in an essay
  • They can show different writing styles
  • They can give you ideas
  • They can inspire you to try new ways of writing
  • They show how different people approach the essays

Your first step in writing should be to create a writing plan. The essay on the book you like the most will involve a lot of separate elements. A writing plan will help you remember everything.

First of all, write a plan that has simply the basics in it. Put in paragraph headings. Put in your quotes. Now, look at it. What else do you want in there? Do you want your thesis statement? Do you want notes about what to put in each paragraph? Put in what you think will be helpful.

Anybody reading an essay entitled ‘my favorite book’ will want to hear writing from the heart. Don‘t just write a generic essay. Make it clear what this book means to you, specifically. This is the way to make your essay stand out in a crowd. This is what gets you noticed.

A key to good writing is actually wanting to do it. Write from the heart, and you will find the act of writing much easier.

There are many ways you can go about writing an essay about books. But whatever their focus, try and spend at least some time talking about what you liked. You will attract people’s attention by talking about what you like. Spend at least one paragraph on your favorite book in talking about how much you like it. It will make your essay even better. Talk about what you like, and people will remember it after they finish reading.

When writing, try and list any advantages a book has. People might be reading your favorite book essay for class and wondering why it is your favorite. Let them know. List the advantages the book has over other books.

Every book has something in it to make it worthwhile. You just need to show other people what that is. This is what will make your essay stand. Your essay will tell people what it means to you, rather than be generic.

The key to writing your favorite book essay is to act like you are trying to sell the book. The point of an essay is to keep people reading to the very end. Try and think beyond this point. What do you want people to do when they finish reading an essay about your favorite book? Do you want them to move on with their lives, or do you want them to read the book?

Obviously, you want them to read the book.

Don’t attempt to tackle the entire essay at once. When writing about your favorite book essay in English, try and do it in bite-sized chunks instead. Try and tackle one paragraph a day. This will give you mental space and physical time to handle it all. A lot goes into writing these essays. Doing it a bit at a time will keep you from being overwhelmed. This will also mean you can focus totally on one single element. Themes one day, character the next, and so on.

When you have finished writing, it is time to check your essay. An essay about the book you like most needs to stand by itself. Imagine that the person reading it knows nothing about you or your abilities. If they see spelling and grammar problems, they will react negatively. Make sure you have included everything you need to! The worst thing you can do is hand in an unfinished essay. Check that everything you want to include is there.

Your favorite book essay should not have any spelling or grammar mistakes. Spelling and grammar are the fundamentals of any writing. If you slip upon them, then people have a negative reaction to it. Proofread your work more than once. You would be amazed at how much you can miss. For your last proof, try and step away from the work for a while. You can then come back to it with fresh eyes.

Ask a friend to proofread your favorite storybook essay. Quite often people find themselves too close to their work. They honestly can’t see mistakes or inaccuracies. To avoid leaving any mistakes, ask a friend to help you. They have fresh eyes, and so will be able to see mistakes much more easily. Getting a friend to proofread means that you will catch any mistakes you might simply have glossed over automatically. You can dramatically improve your work this way.

short essay about my family history

This is an essay on my favorite book. My favorite book is Hogfather , by Terry Pratchett. The overarching story follows an Assassin called Teatime as he tries to kill the Hogfather (the Discworld’s version of Santa), and the people who are trying to stop him.

The major theme of the book is the nature of belief. This is explicitly shown by Teatime stealing teeth, and implicitly by Susan when she helps Death defeats the Auditors. The nature of belief in this book is such that, with no one to believe in the smaller things, the bigger issues, such as Hope, would eventually disappear.

What I love best about this book is the way it shows both sides of a conflict. Even if it does skew in supporting one particular angel, it still shows both sides. I appreciate that the motivations of everyone involved are laid out.

This book is a wonderful read. It combines humor with sincerity to an amazing degree. Even when people are having difficult and dangerous conversations, there is always a feeling that everything will be alright. Pratchett has managed to bring all of his characters to life in the book. Even the characters created solely for this book feel real and lived-in. This makes the themes of the story all the more touching and sincere.

Essay on My Favourite Book in 1000-1500 Words

Introduction

Books have always been a source of knowledge, inspiration, and entertainment for me. Among the countless books I have read, there is one that stands out as my favorite – “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee. This classic novel has left a lasting impact on me, and I find myself revisiting its pages time and time again.

Plot Summary

“To Kill a Mockingbird” is set in the fictional town of Maycomb, Alabama, during the 1930s. The story is narrated by Scout Finch, a young girl who lives with her brother Jem and their widowed father, Atticus Finch. Atticus is a lawyer who is assigned to defend Tom Robinson, a black man accused of raping a white woman. As the trial unfolds, Scout and Jem witness the racism and prejudice that permeate their community.

Throughout the novel, Scout and Jem learn valuable lessons about empathy, compassion, and the importance of standing up for what is right. They also befriend their reclusive neighbor, Boo Radley, who is the subject of much gossip and speculation in the town. As the children navigate the complexities of their world, they come to understand the true meaning of courage and integrity.

One of the central themes of “To Kill a Mockingbird” is the destructive nature of prejudice. The novel explores how racism and discrimination can poison a community and tear it apart. Through the character of Atticus Finch, Harper Lee presents a powerful message about the importance of tolerance and understanding. Atticus stands up for what is right, even in the face of overwhelming opposition, and serves as a moral compass for his children and the reader.

Another key theme in the novel is the loss of innocence. Scout and Jem are forced to confront the harsh realities of the world around them, and their innocence is shattered in the process. As they witness the injustice and cruelty that exist in their society, they are forced to grapple with difficult questions about morality and ethics. The novel captures the pain and confusion of growing up in a world that is often unfair and unjust.

Character Analysis

The characters in “To Kill a Mockingbird” are richly drawn and complex, each with their own strengths and flaws. Atticus Finch is a pillar of integrity and wisdom, a man who embodies the ideals of justice and fairness. His unwavering commitment to doing what is right, regardless of the consequences, sets him apart as a hero in the eyes of his children and the reader.

Scout Finch is a spirited and curious young girl who serves as the narrator of the novel. Her innocence and naivety provide a fresh perspective on the events that unfold in Maycomb, and her growth and development throughout the story are a central focus of the narrative. Scout’s relationship with her brother Jem and their friend Dill adds depth and warmth to the story, as the children navigate the complexities of their world together.

Boo Radley is a mysterious and enigmatic figure who looms large in the imagination of the children. He is the subject of much speculation and fear in the town, but as the story unfolds, it becomes clear that Boo is a kind and gentle soul who has been misunderstood and mistreated by society. His relationship with Scout and Jem is a poignant reminder of the power of empathy and compassion.

“To Kill a Mockingbird” is a timeless classic that continues to resonate with readers of all ages. Its powerful themes, memorable characters, and evocative setting make it a compelling and thought-provoking read. Harper Lee’s masterful storytelling and keen insight into the human condition have cemented this novel as a literary masterpiece.

For me, “To Kill a Mockingbird” is more than just a book – it is a source of inspiration and guidance. The lessons I have learned from its pages about empathy, courage, and standing up for what is right have shaped my own values and beliefs. I am grateful for the opportunity to have experienced this novel and will continue to cherish it as one of my all-time favorites.

My Favourite Book

Books are friends who will never abandon you. This saying rings true for me because books have always been there for me. I like to read books. They have the ability to transport us through worlds without requiring us to leave our current location.  Books have the power to transport people all over the world without them having to leave their homes. My parents and teachers always encouraged me to read when I was younger.  Harry Potter, on the other hand, will always be my favourite book.

J.K. Rowling, one of our generation's most eminent writers, wrote the Harry Potter series. These books depict the wizarding world and its operations. J.K. Rowling has done such a good job of painting a picture of this world that it feels real. Despite the fact that the series consists of seven books, I have a personal favourite.  When I first started reading the book, it immediately piqued my interest. Despite having read all of the previous parts, none of the books piqued my interest as much as this one did.

The introduction of the other wizard schools is one of the things about this book that most excites me. The Triwizard Tournament concept is one of the most brilliant ideas I've seen in the Harry Potter series. In addition, some of my favourite characters appear in this book. Rowling's description of that character's aura and personality is simply brilliant. Furthermore, it made me a bigger fan of the series.Despite the fact that the books are set in the world of wizards and magic, the Harry Potter series contains many lessons for young people to learn.

For starters, it teaches us the value of friendship. I've read a lot of books, but I've never come across a friendship like Harry, Hermoine, and Ron's. Throughout the books, these three musketeers stayed together and never gave up. It taught me the importance of having a good friend.Furthermore, the Harry Potter series taught me that no one is perfect. Everyone carries both good and evil within them. This aided me in making better decisions and becoming a better person. We see how even the most flawed characters, such as Snape, had goodness within them. Similarly, even the nicest characters, such as Dumbledore, had flaws. This altered my attitude toward people and made me more considerate.

Finally, these books provided me with hope. They taught me what hope is and that there is light at the end of the tunnel. It gave me the courage to hold on to hope even in the darkest of times, just as Harry had done his entire life. These are some of the most important lessons I took away from Harry Potter. In conclusion, while many films have been made based on the books. Nothing beats the essence and uniqueness of the books. The details and inclusiveness of books cannot be replaced by any other form of media. As a result, The Goblet of Fire is still my favourite book.

500 Words Essay on My Favourite Book

Books are the repositories of knowledge, wisdom and a source of joy. They are our best companions that open up new dimensions of understanding, and among the multitude of books, ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ by Harper Lee holds a special place in my heart.

Unveiling the Narrative

Characters and plot.

The story is narrated by Scout Finch, a young girl living with her older brother Jem and their widowed father Atticus, a highly moral and principled lawyer. The plot thickens when Atticus is appointed to defend Tom Robinson, a black man falsely accused of raping a white woman. The trial and its aftermath expose the children to the harsh realities of prejudice and moral hypocrisy.

Symbolism and Themes

The title of the book itself is a metaphorical symbol. Atticus advises his children that it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird as they do nothing but make music for us to enjoy. This can be seen as an allegory for the unjust treatment of innocent individuals in society.

‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ has left an indelible mark on me. It taught me that standing up for what is right, even when the majority is against you, is the true mark of integrity. The courage and righteousness of Atticus Finch have greatly influenced my personal values and ethics.

In conclusion, ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ is a timeless classic that delves into the depths of human nature, exploring themes of innocence, morality, and racial prejudice. Its profound impact and the lessons it imparts make it my favorite book. Reading it is not merely an act of leisure, but a journey into the complexities of society and the human mind. Reading is the most effective learning method, and we all know the value of children reading literature. In truth, books have always been and will remain the greatest path to knowledge. If you’ve ever pondered how to start reading without becoming weary, this is your opportunity to do so. Continue reading these sample essays on ‘My Favourite Book’ for classes 1, 2, and 3 or ‘The Book I Like The Most’, and get some ideas for writing an essay on your own.

Essay writing on ‘my favourite book’ is easy. Let us guide you with some points to remember.

  • Begin by writing an introduction about the author and some background information on the book.
  • Then, in a clean, straightforward manner, compose the primary text, and end with a proper conclusion.

Books are vital in each child’s life. They bring kids to a fantasy universe, introduce them to the big world out there, and improve their reading and writing skills, memory, and cognition. We cannot emphasise the value of literature in the kids’ lives as it expands their minds and serves as portals into the universe surrounding us. They leave a long-lasting impression on children.

Younger children can be expected to write their essay in a simple format. Guide them to jot down their points and write them out in grammatically correct sentences. Below are ten points on the essay for class 1 & class 2:

  • Books are a treasure trove of knowledge.
  • Reading books is an excellent habit that gives us insight and expertise.
  • They help us improve our brain power and expand our vocabulary.
  • I like reading books about fairy tales.
  • Fairy tale books have fascinating stories about fairies and their companions in fairyland.
  • I read these books every night before going to sleep.
  • The book I’m currently reading has some lovely stories with big pictures!
  • The book’s illustration makes it more enjoyable to read.
  • The pictures in the book make it easy to imagine the fantasy world.
  • My friends and I always exchange our books, so we get to read many new books.

Books are our great buddies since they provide all the information about the world. One of my favourite books is ‘The Jungle Book’.  Rudyard Kipling wrote ‘The Jungle Book’ in 1894. The story revolves around Mowgli, a human kid raised by wolves in a wild forest.

Bagheera, the loving panther, finds a small boy in the jungle and delivers him to the wolf pack. Mama wolf then raises Mowgli as her baby. Daddy wolf teaches Mowgli all the skills of the forest. Mowgli understands the jungle laws and spends most of his time with Baloo and Bagheera. Sher Khan, a dangerous tiger, wants to eat Mowgli. So Mowgli thinks of a plan to rescue himself and succeeds. Everybody in the forest gets happy.

Reading is something I enjoy doing. I’ve read many novels. But, one book holds a special place in my heart, my favourite book, Panchatantra, written by Vishnu Sharma. It has many stories with pictures. Every story has a moral which teaches something good and meaningful in life. I enjoy reading picture books, and this book offered me a variety of stories.

One of my favourite stories from Panchatantra is ‘The Foolish Lion And The Clever Rabbit’. Once upon a time, there was a greedy lion who used to kill animals. Everyone was afraid of him. To reduce the senseless killing, the animals requested the lion to spare them the fear and decided to send one animal to the lion each day. The lion agreed to this agreement. One day, the animals sent a rabbit. He was an intelligent creature. He reached the lion’s cave late and told him that another big lion had stopped him on the way. He told the greedy lion that this second lion was challenging him. The lion felt very angry and decided to teach a good lesson to the other lion. He asked the rabbit to take him to the place where he met the other lion. The clever rabbit took him to a well and told him that the other lion lived in that well. When the greedy lion looked inside the well, he saw his own reflection and mistook it for the second lion. He jumped into the well to attack his competitor but drowned. The rabbit saved himself and the entire forest because of his quick wit and cleverness.

There are many such stories of wit and intelligence in the Panchatantra books. They introduce us to virtues such as compassion, bravery, wisdom, mental presence, and togetherness.

Books are loyal companions that will never abandon you. This holds true for me because you can always find books with and around me.

Books can transport us to other universes without leaving our current location. Books also help us expand our creativity. My family and teachers always motivated me to read and instilled in me the value of books. The book I like most is the Panchatantra. It is an extremely fascinating book. I have finished the book, but I still continue to read it because it is so entertaining!

One of the most prominent Indian authors and scholars, Vishnu Sharma, wrote Panchatantra in Sanskrit in the 3rd century BC. The book was later translated into many different languages. It is a collection of several stories. Vishnu Sharma has done a good job of giving moral life lessons by showcasing the activity of animals. I enjoy the book because it has many stories I love and cherish.

My mother bought this book for me as my birthday present. When I first read this book, it captured my attention instantly. Panchatantra has a unique narration which makes it my favourite book. It teaches us how humble, loving, and caring people always succeed. The book also showcases how bad qualities like cunningness, jealousy, anger and cheating can get you into trouble.

Panchatantra is a narrative of several animal characters in various stories, including a lion named Pingalaka, two bulls named Karnataka and Sanjivaka, a fox named Damanaka, deer named Chars, and so many others. These animals showcase human behaviour that we come across in our daily life.

Even though the book has a variety of stories, the story of The Crab and The Stork is close to my heart. It teaches us about presence of mind and intelligence. The story begins with a stork that was searching for food but could not find any as he was old. Finally, he plans to catch a fish to eat. He goes to a pond and pretends to be sad and depressed. Seeing him gloomy, a fish and a crab ask him why he is upset. The stork makes up a story that humans were going to inhabit the pond to grow crops. They are convinced by this story and are worried about how to stop this. The stork takes all the fish, frogs and other marine animals out of the pond, and slyly uses them for his meal. Finally, it is the turn of the crab to go with the stork, but the crab is aware that his friends are dead. So, the crab uses his intelligence, grabs the stork’s neck, and kills him to save himself.

Panchatantra stories like this one have taught me to think before taking any action. The book educates me on optimism and how to see the brightness at the end of the tunnel. It has made me realise the value of being good to all in any situation.

Thinking about their favourite book will make children mentally revisit all the books they have read and enjoyed. It will also encourage them to analyse what they like about each of the books as they choose their favourite one and think of points to write about. Moreover, as children discuss their assignments in class, it will expose them to a whole new variety of books that they would like to add to their reading wishlist. This assignment will also make children understand the importance of reading for their overall learning. It will also give them good writing practice with a topic that they can enjoy. Nothing in this world can beat the importance of reading storybooks. When we read a storybook we are immediately shifted to a different fictional world. I recently loved a book based on dance experience. As a dancer, it gives me immense joy to go through it several times. The book is Rasia, by Koral Dasgupta.

The book explores the story of a dancer Rajsekhar Subramanian and his several experiences when he meets a woman named Vatsala in New York. She makes him realize the importance of knowing his own perfect self and also the significance of his wife Manasi in his career. The concept of a dancer knowing himself through his passionate dance attracts my interest the most. Stories like this must be read to even know oneself the best.

Reading storybooks is the biggest asset of human life. Nothing compares itself in this world with the reading of a storybook and the emotions that are experienced after going through it. A storybook is much different from those we read in the educational syllabus.

It is mainly made for fun reading and also to learn something quite easily than the cramped syllabus. For me, reading storybooks is simply an expression of liberty and happiness. It is my time where I let none interrupt. I not only read them but also make my own interpretations and write them down in my journal.

A book that I have journaled really well is an English translation of Chokher Bali by Rabindranath Tagore. The story, in English, undoubtedly is a masterpiece of the great author. The novel tells us about a complex relationship between the four main characters, Mahendra, Binodini, Ashalata, and Behari. The friendships, husband-wife relationships, and the intrusion of an outsider widow, all sum up the story as a complex web of emotions.

The reader feels confused as to support Binodini or simply accuse her of destroying the life of Ashalata and Mahendra. Behari is praised for his attitude and for Mahendra’s fickle mind Binodini suffers throughout her life. As a friend, she shows Ashalata the true nature of her husband. Chokher Bali is my favourite Tagore novel that weaves great complexity into a final solution.

Life is not always s peaceful and happy as it seems to be. We often feel tired when we cannot perform as we want, with our family and friends. In those lonely moments, we need a company with whom we can share our thoughts and feelings. Books, especially storybooks help us to vent these emotions, happy or sad. For me, storybooks are my best friends who help me go through all my problems. Whenever I need a company that can transport me to a different world, then only storybooks can help me do so.

The best storybook which I have read recently is a famous book written by Mulk Raj Anand named The Untouchable. The story is as important to the reader as it is to the countrymen. The story has a central figure called Bakkha who is a latrine cleaner. The boy is of young age and through his generations, he is forced to work as a latrine cleaner. He is tortured tremendously by the higher caste people of his society.

Even Bakha’s sister is equally humiliated by the head priest of the temple who tries to molest her for being a sweeper girl. She is forced to stand afar in the line to fetch water because she comes from the family of the sweepers. Class discrimination gets its most terrific view with the treatment of Bakha when he visits the house of a woman and is humiliated. The woman throws a chapatti at his face because he is a sweeper. The position of a human is destroyed by this ill-treatment.

The story’s significance is that it can be divided into two parts. In the first part, Bakha gets ill-treated by the community members. In the second part, the arrival of Mahatma Gandhi changes the entire course of action in the book. Bakha after getting disrespected leaves the city and goes to a lonely place.

From there he is swept away by a crowd who are attending the protest movement of Gandhiji. He visits the venue and after hearing the words of the Mahatma he is inspired. His final confusion is relieved when a person discusses how a different sort of latrine will be employed in India and for that no cleaner will be required regularly. Here the novel ends.

The novel is lovely to me as it shows the reality of caste discrimination in a colonial country like India. In fact, still, India is a victim of such social issues which need to be addressed seriously and get them removed from society.

So, after going through the entire session, if you still have any doubts regarding the context, put them in the comment section below for further clarification from my side. If this lesson has helped you let us know that as well. Keep browsing our website for more such content.

Essay on My Favorite Book (1000 Words)

The true companion of humans in this world is a book. Without the book, the life of humans remains incomplete.

Books are the true friend of a human.

Books have a special quality that can help the readers travel through their words without moving from the actual destinations. Otherwise, we can infer that books enhance our imagination. One book that gave me inspiration is Harry Potter. It is my favorite book.

Books are the True Guide

The process to make him or her into a recognizable person to this society takes many efforts, and without books, it can’t be done.

This book is one of the most intriguing reads of my life. I have finished reading all the books in this series. Every time I read them, I never get bored with it.

Interesting specifics that I admire about the book “Harry Potter”

This book has completely given me a thrilling experience and given me enough lessons. This book contributed a huge perspective into the wizarding world.

A Lesson I Found from the Harry Potter Series

The Harry Potter series is completely based on the world of wizards and magic, but the books contain a lot of lessons for young people to learn. We can learn about the importance of friendship in these books. As per my idea, I have completed so many books but found nothing like these books.

This shows genuine friendship. That is why I admire the writer of this book as she explained the characters so deeply and mentioned the vitality of friendship.

The series of Harry Potter also provides me with hope. A reader can manipulate the meaning of hope and how there is light at the end of the tunnel through these books. I got inspired the most by the character Harry, as his life is full of the strongest points to cling on to hope in the most desperate times.

My Favourite Book – ‘The Ministry of Utmost Happiness’ by Arundhati Roy.

‘Published in 2017, this book marks the return of Arundhati Roy to the fictional world, after a long hiatus following her acclaimed debut novel, ‘The God of Small Things,’ which won the Man Booker Prize in 1997. ‘The Ministry of Utmost Happiness is a complex and sprawling narrative that weaves together multiple storylines and characters.’

‘This novel is notable for its rich prose and the vivid imaginary skills of the author where she has portrayed the complexities and diversities in Indian society. The main character, Anjum, is a transgender woman who creates a home for herself in a graveyard in Delhi.’

My Favourite Book – ‘The God of Small Things’ by Arundhati Roy.

‘The God of Small Things was the debut novel of Arundhati Roy, published in 1997 and won the Man Booker Prize for fiction. This novel is set in the Indian State of Kerala and weaves a complex narrative, where different themes such as family, love, social injustice and the consequences of societal norms are explored.’

‘This novel employs a non-linear narrative structure, adding to its complexities. This book alternates between two time periods: the main storyline of 1960 and a later period of 1993. This novel revolves around the lives of fraternal twins Rahel and Estha, who were separated after a traumatic incident when they were kids. Their relationship is central to the story, and the narrative explores their individual struggles and the enduring bond between them.’

I consider this novel my favourite because it delves into the rigid caste system and social norms that pervade Indian society, particularly in Kerala. It is set against the backdrop of significant political and historical events in India, such as the rise of communism and the influence of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Kerala. This is a beautifully written emotionally powerful novel that tackles themes of love, loss and social injustice.

My Favourite Book – Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones by James Clear

‘In times where everyone is obsessed with self-transformations and instant gratification, the book ‘Atomic Habits’ by James Clear presents a refreshing perspective on personal growth and self-improvement. James Clear has resonated with readers all over the world with his book, offering profound insights into the art and science of habit formation. His words stand out not only for their clarity but also for their practicality, offering readers with actionable strategies to make lasting positive changes in their lives.’

‘This book talks about a psychological framework, the habit loop, which comprises of 4 components: cue, craving, response and reward. Each of these components tells you how habits are formed, maintained, and, ultimately, transformed. This book helps in understanding the mechanics of the habit loop, giving readers a gain to valuable tool to reshare their behaviours intentionally.’

‘One of the standout principles of this book is the ‘two-minute rule’ where the author wants us to build new habits so easily that they can be completed in under two minutes.  This approach paves the way for consistent and gradual progress. It doesn’t matter what your objectives are, but with his rule, you can transform what seems impossible and attain your daily goals and rituals.’

‘The other focus of this book is towards the environment and the crucial role it plays in shaping our behaviours. James Clear demonstrates that whether things are small or big, physical or social, they can have a profound impact on our habits. A personal can create an environment that supports their desired changes by distinguishing between the obvious and undesirable changes.’

‘The importance of continuous progress and improvement is the key message here. James introduces the concept of the ‘plateau of latent potential,’ where progress may be slow in the beginning but once there is consistency, it leads to remarkable growth with unwavering commitment.’

Long Essay on My Favourite Book 100, 150, 200, 250 Words for Kids and Students in English

I love reading books, they are indeed my ‘best friends’. It is a tedious task to choose a good book because thousands of books are published every year. I always take the suggestions made by my teachers and parents into account while choosing a book. Some days back, my uncle gave me one as a birthday gift as he knows my love for books. It is called The Mahabharata’ and has been written in English by Anand Sagar Chowdhry and published by Goodwill Publishing House, Delhi.

Essay on “My Favorite Book-The Mahabharata” In English

When I went through the first chapter, a fascinating story unfolded itself. King Satyavan married the daughter of a washerman and his son from the first wife took a pledge to remain a bachelor all his life. He came to be known as Bhishma Pitamah. The story was so eventful that it was very difficult to keep pace with the individual events.

The battle between the Kauravas and Pandavas is so well known that it need not be repeated. In the middle of the epic stands The Gita which serves as a lighthouse. It sheds light on the theme of the whole story. The language is so poetic that one floats in its divine stream. Lord Krishna tells us to perform our duties without having any expectations about the rewards.

We should forget the sense of affection as it blurs our minds while performing our duties and meeting out justice. We should strive for excellence in whatever we do. This body is short-lived but the soul is eternal. It never dies. It keeps on changing bodies just as we keep on changing clothes. Fire cannot burn the soul nor can the sword cut it. When death is a must, why should we be afraid of it?

It was this “celestial song” ‘Gita’ that helped Arjuna to perform his duty boldly and fearlessly, keeping his personal affections at bay. The author also tells us that the struggle always continues in our hearts. Whenever we are in doubt about whether we should do something or not, we should seek guidance from The Gita.

The Mahabharata has changed the whole course of my life and I wish that it should be read by everyone. The book is especially recommended for those young people who have yet to begin their careers.

Short Essay On My Favourite Book Panchatantra In Hindi

मेरी प्रिय पुस्तक | Paragraph on My Favourite Book in Hindi

Short Essay On My Favourite Book

My favourite book is “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee. This classic novel, set in the 1930s in the fictional Maycomb County, Alabama, explores themes of racial injustice, prejudice and morality through the eyes of Scout Finch, a young girl.

The novel is known for its powerful and thought-provoking portrayal of the discrimination faced by black people in the South during the Great Depression. The character of Atticus Finch, Scout’s father and a respected lawyer, serves as a moral compass as he defends an African American man wrongly accused of a crime. Through Atticus’ actions and lessons, the book teaches important lessons about standing up for what is right, even when it is difficult.

What I love most about “To Kill a Mockingbird” is the way it presents complex themes in a relatable and accessible manner. Scout’s innocence and curiosity serve as a lens through which the reader can explore the world around them and the challenges it poses. The novel also features a strong sense of community, as Scout and her brother Jem navigate their relationships with their friends, neighbours and family.

Overall, “To Kill a Mockingbird” is a must-read for anyone looking for a powerful and insightful exploration of race, justice and morality. The novel’s enduring popularity and impact on American culture speaks to its timeless relevance and the power of its message.

Books are considered to be a man’s best friend. They are a powerhouse of knowledge and wisdom. It is rightly said that a book is like a garden carried in the pocket. Among the myriad of books I have read, one that stands out as my favourite is Harper Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird.” This timeless classic is not just a book but a profound narrative that intertwines moral growth, racism, and social injustice in a way that resonates with its readers across generations.

Why “To Kill a Mockingbird” is My Favourite Book

Unforgettable characters.

The characters of “To Kill a Mockingbird” are its strongest suit. Scout Finch, the narrator, is a character whose innocence and curiosity about the world around her make the complex themes of the book accessible to readers. Through her eyes, we see the growth and moral development of characters as they navigate through the social fabric of Maycomb, Alabama. Atticus Finch, Scout’s father, embodies integrity and wisdom. He is a moral beacon, not just for his children but for the community, as he defends a black man, Tom Robinson, accused of raping a white woman. The characters are not just figments of fiction but are etched in reality, making readers reflect on their moral compass.

Themes of Moral Integrity and Social Injustice

The book delves deep into themes of racial injustice, moral integrity, and the loss of innocence. Through the trial of Tom Robinson, Harper Lee presents a stark portrayal of the racial inequalities that plagued the American South. But, more than that, the novel is a call to action, urging its readers to stand up against injustice and to strive for empathy and understanding. The character of Atticus Finch serves as a role model, teaching his children and the readers the importance of seeing the world from another’s perspective, emphasizing, “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view… Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.”

A Lesson in Empathy and Understanding

One of the most profound lessons “To Kill a Mockingbird” imparts is the importance of empathy. The novel encourages readers to look beyond the surface, to understand that every person has a story, and often, people act out of the pain and suffering that is not visible to the naked eye. The character of Boo Radley is a prime example. Initially portrayed as a figure of mystery and fear, Boo’s true nature is revealed towards the end, teaching Scout and the readers a valuable lesson about kindness, bravery, and the human capacity for goodness.

Impact and Relevance

“To Kill a Mockingbird” has not only won the Pulitzer Prize but has also become a staple in academic curriculums worldwide, testament to its impact and relevance. Its themes of racial injustice, moral courage, and empathy are as pertinent today as they were in the 1960s. The novel serves as a mirror to society, reflecting the biases and injustices that still exist while also illuminating the path towards understanding, acceptance, and equality.

Personal Reflection

For me, “To Kill a Mockingbird” is more than just a book; it is a journey into the heart of humanity. It has taught me the importance of standing up for what is right, even when the world seems against you. It has shown me the power of empathy, of the need to understand and accept others, regardless of our differences. Atticus Finch’s integrity, courage, and wisdom are qualities I aspire to embody in my own life.

In conclusion, “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee is a book that transcends time and age. Its lessons on empathy, justice, and moral integrity are universal. It challenges readers to reflect on their values and prejudices, urging them towards a more compassionate and just world. This book holds a special place in my heart, not just as my favourite book but as a guide to navigating the complexities of the human condition. For anyone looking to understand the essence of humanity, to learn about courage and compassion, “To Kill a Mockingbird” is a must-read. It is a book that changes you, that makes you a better person, and that is why it remains my favourite book.

Ponderings: What is Your Favorite Book and Why?

Sharing is caring!

Hey there, fabulous bookworms! I'm absolutely obsessed with reading—no surprise there. It's like finding a soulmate when I bump into friends who are also passionate about the literary world. Is there anything better than talking about your favorite book over coffee?

From the moment I could read at age five, I was a voracious reader—no kidding! I used to march to the local library and haul home a stack of books so high it was like my own personal tower of literary joy. I even read the children's picture book section alphabetically—true story! So, let's dive into why your all-time favorite book is more than just a collection of pages; it's a window into your soul, values, and even your life goals.

This article is part of a series of Pondering posts where I asked people the same question and shared their thoughts along with mine.

I know this is an unfair pondering question as picking one book as a favorite is impossible; however, I will say Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse for my one-book recommendation.  I learned much from this book; I researched Buddhism, symbolism, and Carl Jung. The book is a spiritual journey by the main character, Siddhartha, and covers many themes: family, friendship, love, and finding yourself. I get something new from this book every time I read it; a new message finds me as I think about my life, Hesse's writing, and Siddhartha's growth.

I first read this as an assignment when I returned to college when my youngest was about one year old. I was worried that I wouldn't fit in or have anything intelligent to say after years of being home with my children – let's face it, watching too much children's television can kill brain cells.  When the unit was over, the professor asked me to present my research, and I was teaching the class about Buddhism, the four noble truths, and the eightfold path, and I was on my journey of growth and enlightenment.

Another insightful book is The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom by Don Miguel Ruiz. It's simple and powerful, with striking lessons on love and communication.

Why Your Go-To Book is a Window Into Your Soul

When it comes to revealing the depths of your soul, your go-to book is like your personal mirror, reflecting your hopes, dreams, fears, and so much more. Think about it: the stories that captivate us often touch on themes and experiences that resonate with us on a deeply personal level. Maybe it's a tale of epic adventure that fuels your wanderlust, or perhaps it's a coming-of-age story that reminds you of your journey. Elizabeth Gilbert put it perfectly in her book Big Magic: “The universe buries strange jewels deep within us all, and then stands back to see if we can find them.”

The key takeaway is that your favorite book often intersects with your life's narrative. It may highlight your aspirations, echo your dilemmas, or even offer solutions that feel almost tailor-made for you. The next time you pick up that well-thumbed copy of your all-time favorite book, take a moment to ponder what it truly reveals about you. You might discover a gem of insight that's been there all along, waiting for you to unearth it.

Incorporating these elements enriches the content and makes it more relatable and insightful. You're not just talking about books but life, the universe, and everything in between. And isn't that what great storytelling is all about?

The Impact of Your Favorite Book on Your Life

Understanding the impact of your favorite book on your life is like unlocking a treasure chest of self-awareness. It's not just about the narrative, characters, or plot twists; it's about the book's influence on shaping your perspectives, values, and choices. For some, a favorite book might catalyze change, inspiring new ventures or pivots in career paths. For others, it serves as a comforting emotional anchor, a dependable source of wisdom to revisit in times of chaos or uncertainty.

The incredible part is that this book—or set of books, because hey, who can pick just one?—can be both a mirror and a compass. It reflects who you are while pointing to who you could become. This fascinating dynamic transforms your reading experience from a mere pastime into a lifelong companion that enriches your journey in ways you may not have even realized. The intrigue lies in identifying your favorite book and exploring its long-lasting imprint on your story.

“I have always thirsted for knowledge. I have always been full of questions.” Hermann Hesse

What is Your Favorite Book?

Thoughts from Carol Quinn , author of Follow My Lead

My favorite book is usually the one I happen to be reading. At the moment, I’m rereading the History of Love  by Nicole Krauss.  It’s a lyrical story about love and loss—beautifully written. For me, this book is a reminder of why I love to write: to touch hearts, to shine the light on the parts of our humanity that we hide from one another, and to give a picture of our struggles.

“Most people…are like a falling leaf that drifts and turns in the air, flutters, and falls to the ground. But a few others are like stars which travel one defined path: no wind reaches them, they have their guide and path within themselves.” Hermann Hesse

Thoughts from Shannon Fitzpatrick:

My favorite book is My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult. I remember hearing all about it in sixth grade, but my mom told me I wasn't old enough to read it. I had to wait three long years until I was given the nod of approval. It was right after Christmas, and my brother took me to Borders, and I bought my copy even though my mom had one.

I believe that books have memories from when you read them, and I wanted this one to be filled with memories. I sat down and read it all in one day. It was the first book to make me cry. All these things make the book unique: waiting, having it be mine, and making me cry, which is not easy.

Thoughts from Rheda Wilson-Duff :

“So many on my list, but my favorite book of all time is Approval Addiction by Joyce Meyer. In my not-too-distant past, I had a severe need for everyone to like me. I would do anything for approval. This book gave me insight, hope, and solutions.”

Here are some other favorite books to add to your “to-be-read” (TBR) pile:

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

Practical Magic (and the whole series) by Alice Hoffman

Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun, and Be Your Own Perso n by Shonda Rhimes

My favorite book is Pillars of the Earth, by Ken Follett. It was made into an okay mini-series. In fact, I’d optioned it shortly after it came out and tried to make it myself but it was during a dormant period for mini-series when they were ONLY making 4-hour mini’s and Pillars needed at least 8.

The story of Pillars isn’t one you’d immediately think of as involving as it centers around the building of a church in the Middle Ages. But, what I loved so much was being transported to a time and place with such vivid characters and intrigue.

I have so little “free reading” time these days. I loved when I read great series of books like “The Winds of War” and “War and Remembrance,” when I read aloud the first four Harry Potter books to my boys, and so many others!

I have’t read that Bruce, it sounds interesting. Have you read Brunelleschi’s Dome about the building of the Dome in Florence? You might really like it. I love historical reading and being transported to another time and place. I will definitely check out your book suggestion.

I don’t have as much free reading time either but I am trying to carve it back into my schedule. It is worth the effort. Thanks for sharing with me! Peggy

No, but I’ll have to read those! I filmed ON the Dome – a pilot for a series. We did a chase across the top, at night, with thousands of Italians watching! Very cool…but not quite as cool as when we continued the chase on the Tower of Pisa!

I love “Little Women” I have read this book seven times and can always find something new in its language or story that I missed. I believe it has everything a book should have. Love, family, sadness, togetherness, even a bit of suspense a few times.

I read the Little Women series with my Mom and sister so long ago. I need to re-read that as well. I really respect Louisa May Alcott for having to work so hard as a women writer.

Thanks for sharing Debbie!

Ah great memories of reading Little Women with my mom and sister. I need to re-read that again. I always admired Louisa May Alcott for forging the way for women writers when it was so difficult. Truly a great American author.

Hard to pick an absolute favorite, but I Know This Much Is True by Wally Lamb really resonates with me.  Great story about brothers, family history, trials of life.  My favorite new book is Matterhorn by Karl Marlantes.  It’s a fictional Vietnam war novel based on the true experiences of the author. It is a war book that really brings out the humanity of the young men involved in the war.

Hi Curtis, I agree – it is hard to pick just one favorite book. I have not read Wally Lamb yet but his books are popular. I will have to check it out!

“Pillars of the Earth” by Ken Follette.  It is just one of those epic reads that you cannot put down.  I have gifted the book to countless friends and family…all with very different tastes and interests.  100% gave the same feedback.  They could not put the book down, read it straight through and were emotionally spent at the end.

I met my wife over a conversation about “On The Road” by Jack Kerouac.  So goes without saying that is also epic in a number of ways!

Great post Peg.  Appreciate you!

PS – Wonderful photos!

“Desperaux” by Kate DiCamillo. A book which depicts human nature using fun and wise characters from a children point of view.

Mines probably The Book Thief by Marcus Zuzack. Its about a girl living in Nazi, Germany during World War 2 but its in the perspective of Death. Its a magnificent story filled with lyrical prose and beautiful characters.

It’s very hard to choose just one, but I would say my favorite book is “Love in the Time of Cholera,” by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I loved most of Marquez’s books and my favorite genre remains magical realism, which is so common in South-American literature. I often read Isabel Allende, Mario Vargas Llosa or Julio Cortazar, they are all great. I’ve only read “Steppenwolf” by Hesse and “Siddhartha” is on my list, too!

Short Paragraph on my Favourite Book (200 Words)

Sherlock Holmes is one of my all-time favourites. The adventure story of iconic detective Sherlock Holmes and his trusty sidekick, doctor John Watson, yes, they encounter some complex and mysterious crime cases in London.

The reason that I like Sherlock Holmes the most is because of its awesome storytelling and intricate plots. The author Arthur Conan Doyle’s ability to describe the clues and hints into a mysterious crime that only Sherlock Holmes can solve is truly remarkable. The personality of Sherlock Holmes itself makes him different; his sharp, intelligent mind makes him stand out. The author gives a brief description of cities architecture, culture, and people.

The stories of Sherlock Holmes are not only entertaining but also encourage the reader to think critically. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves mystery, an intriguing plot, and unforgettable characters.

My favourite book essay

Reading is my favourite pastime. I always enjoy reading books, and among the books I enjoy reading the most are novels. I have read a lot of novels, but Chander Pahar is one of my all-time favourites. Chander Pahar was written by renowned Bengali author Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay . The author, Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay, is known for the rural Bengali areas sketched in his novel.

The story of Chander Pahar revolves around a village boy named Shankar’s adventure experience in the dense forests of Africa. Throughout the story, the author tries to sketch Shankar’s journey as one filled with adventure, danger, and excitement. The details of the African landscape with wild animals like Bunip and all the dangerous encounters by Shankar are breathtaking. The author’s vivid description will transform the reader into Shankar’s world, which is unparalleled.

The story will keep the reader engaged and hooked until the end. The story of Chander Pahar inspires readers to explore the world and embrace adventure. The story teachers ask a lot of life lessons: following the conventional path is not the only way to success; we should explore new horizons and face our fears.

Essay on My Favourite Book For Students

Books are not just fun, they’re super beneficial too! Want to know about dinosaurs? There’s a book for that. Curious about how the world was made? Yep, there’s a book for that too. Books teach you about history, science, art, and whatever else you’re into. What’s cool is that there are so many different kinds of books. Some are big, some are small, some are thick, and some are thin. Some have lots of words, and some have more pictures. You can find books with shiny covers or soft ones.

And get this – you don’t even have to buy books to enjoy them! You can borrow them from a library. Libraries are like a goldmine of books just waiting for someone to pick them up and go on an adventure. So, whether you’re reading under your blanket with a flashlight or chilling by the fire, books are your key to fun and learning. In this article, we will be providing an essay on my favourite book.

500 Word Essay on My Favourite Book

One of the most mind-bending yet fascinating books I’ve ever read is A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking. This groundbreaking work by one of the world’s most brilliant theoretical physicists explores the fundamental questions about the origins and nature of our universe. What makes this book so captivating is how Hawking takes enormously complex concepts from physics and cosmology and translates them into relatively understandable language for the average reader. He has an exceptional talent for using clever analogies and thought experiments to shed light on counterintuitive realities about space, time, and the evolution of the cosmos.

A central focus of the book is Hawking’s quest, along with many other physicists, to develop a unified theory that reconciles the principles of Einstein’s general theory of relativity, which describes the laws of gravity that govern the motion of large objects like planets and galaxies, with the very different rules of quantum mechanics, which regulate the behavior of subatomic particles. Marrying these two disparate understandings into one all-encompassing model is one of the biggest unsolved challenges in modern physics.

Hawking does a masterful job explaining mind-bending phenomena like gravitational singularities at the core of black holes, the possibility that time itself may have had a beginning with the initial fireball of the Big Bang, and the counterintuitive quantum effects like fields of negative energy. He explores cutting-edge theories like supergravity, supersymmetry, and string theory that strive to incorporate quantum mechanics into a broader fabric with gravitation. While the farthest depths of theoretical physics can cross into realms that seem completely detached from human experience, Hawking always finds a way to ground the concepts through illustrative examples and connections to observable phenomena. His famous image of a pool table as an analogy for describing the curvature of space-time in the presence of matter is just one example of his knack for elucidation.

A Brief History of Time such an engaging read is Hawking’s ability to translate the abstract mathematical laws that govern the universe into a captivating philosophical exploration. By taking readers on a journey through the evolution of celestial mechanics and cosmology, he simultaneously highlights how little we truly understand about the origins and behavior of our universe while celebrating how much we’ve been able to unravel through science. It’s a delicate balance of illuminating the known and acknowledging the limits of human knowledge that makes this book a modern classic.

800 Word Essay on My Favourite Book

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho is one of those rare books that becomes an instant classic the moment you read it. It’s a philosophical novel disguised as a simple journey, following an Andalusian shepherd boy named Santiago as he travels from Spain to the Egyptian pyramids in pursuit of a treasure buried near the Pyramids. But the beauty of The Alchemist lies in the timeless lessons and wisdom it imparts along the way. On one level, it is a thrilling adventure story full of omens, mythical encounters, and narrow escapes as Santiago leaves his homeland in search of his “Personal Legend” or life’s purpose. Coelho manages to infuse the simple plot with profound insights into following your dreams, listening to your heart, recognizing and pursuing your destiny, and being open to the obscure forces that can guide you along the way if you remain aware and present.

One of the core themes is the idea that we are all capable of achieving our most desired goals and destinies by being attuned to the “beginners’ mind” and seeing the simple wonders and lessons present all around us. As Santiago journeys, he has his spiritual eyes opened by chance meetings with a mysterious old man, a departed soul in the desert, and finally an enlightened alchemist who becomes his mentor. The alchemist schools Santiago on understanding “The Soul of the World” and embracing what the old man calls “the principle that governs all things.” Coelho masterfully takes the concepts of alchemy, omens, the language of the universe, and the transformative wisdom of listening to one’s heart, and makes them accessible to modern readers through Santiago’s fable-like travels and awakenings.

Much of the book’s beauty and wisdom comes through the simple conversations and parables voiced by the spiritual figures Santiago encounters on his travels. The alchemist teaches Santiago that pursuing your Personal Legend is not an easy path but is the only way to be truly fulfilled. He says, “There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.”

The book has a way of gently ushering you through barriers and fears, leaving you with a calm confidence and peace about following your heart’s calling. Sometimes it hits you over the head with powerful affirmations like: “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” Other times it sneaks up on you through simple interactions or metaphors, such as the alchemist’s explanation of transforming lead into gold representing the process of pursuing your legend and becoming your authentic self. Throughout the journey, Coelho’s writing is clear and simple yet stunningly profound. It has the magical quality of a timeless parable yet feels modern and unfailingly relevant. His descriptions of nature, the desert, and cities like Tangier have the tone of fabled odysseys but are fresh and vibrant.

In the end, The Alchemist is a story of self-discovery, a celebration of intuition and overcoming one’s fears, and a call to live life in a state of sublime awareness and openness to the omens that can lead you toward your own Personal Legend. It’s a short book that can be devoured in one sitting yet deserves to be read and re-read many times, as layers of wisdom and truth reveal themselves with each new reading at different stages of your life’s journey.

With deceptive simplicity and poeticism, Coelho inspires you to view the world, your heart’s desires, and life’s symbolic omens through fresh eyes. He leaves you awakened and empowered to pursue your dreams in a deep and transcendent way. It’s a novel that becomes a personal milestone, a guide to living life with sacred awareness and courage. For these reasons and many more, it is a book that has profoundly impacted me and will always remain one of my absolute favorites.
